Getting links is a multi step process which requires a lot of tedious labor. You need to publicize yourself by submitting site descriptions, articles, videos and other things to many diverse sites. Link generation software makes this process much easier and magnifies your efforts to a great degree.

1) Submit to Directories

There are directory submission services and there are programs which automate the process of submitting to a directory. Isnare is an article distribution service that submits your articles to hundreds of article directories for a reasonable price. This a very convenient method of distribution but some have indicated that such widespread distribution without any selection of article directories on a quality basis may be treated as spam and reduce the effectiveness of the links generated.

1. Fast directory submitter from G-Lock software is an excellent free tool to automate submission of your site to multiple directories.

   It allows you to save projects which contain directory selection and your site information data. It also tracks the submission results. It accomplishes this with a friendly and powerful interface.

2. Digixmas was reviewed by WebProWorld. The commenter said that it is a semi automated directory submission tool.

   It works by creating an account with them, downloading some software, logging into your account via the software, adding a website or two, then going through a whole list of directories to complete the submission form for you. You have to enter the captcha number a lot of the time and you can manually select which category you would like to submit the website to.

4. Directory Submitter seems to be a basic no frills directory submission program with fast submission time. However, it seems to be somewhat limited in that it only allows for one description, it doesn't seem to have full sorting and selecting capabilities

• ArticleAnnouncer comes highly recommended by Allen Gardyne who is a very succesful affiliate marketer who runs the AssociatePrograms website. It comes with extensive training on a set of cds. It's priced somewhat on the high side but it offers a lot of extra value.

3) Post Comments in Blogs Related to Your Niche

Google has created a nofollow attribute so that certain links don't count for search engine ranking. They did this because people would post comments in a blog or other forum with links pointing back to themselves generating comment spam and reducing the value of a link.

You want software to find blogs that are dofollow which means that if they link to you, it counts as a link. Blog finding software finds blogs in the topic that you are interested in and can check for dofollow status. They should also allow for a date of last comment setting because a dormant blog is useless.

• Fast Blog Finder - This program from Julia Gulevich comes in a free and paid form. The free edition yields 50 results. The paid version is unlimited. It has the advantage that you can specify the cutoff date of the most recent post. If the last post is before this date indicating that the blog is basically dead, it won't list it. One item that needs improvement is the fact that it returns both nofollow and dofollow blogs. You can filter and sort out the nofollow after the fact but I would rather not see them.
• Real Link Finder- This free program from Neal Shearing produces an unlimited number of dofollow blogs. It allows you to specify the number of posts that have been made to the blog needed to qualify the blog. It does not have a date of last post feature so you may get blogs returned that are long dead.

  Recent tests of this program have been disappointing. Even though dofollow was specified, most of the blogs returned were nofollow.

4) Social Bookmarking

Wikipedia says that "social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to store, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web pages on the Internet with the help of metadata". The social bookmarking sites such as Digg, StumbleUpon, del.icio.us, furl and others allow users to indicate approval for articles that they believe are the best on the net and should be publicized. Articles or posts that get a high ranking gain many links and tons of traffic.

Automarker - Jonathan Leger, one of the net's leading internet marketers, has this bookmarking tool in beta. This allows groups of people to collaborate on voting for each others quality content. A subscriber receives a list of articles to promote and can in turn submit articles for promotion.

5) Videos

Videos are a new hot way to gain links. There are multiple sites to submit videos to and a program to automate submissions to multiple sites is a great aid.

It also saves common information and fills it in automatically for each selected site. There is a one time fee for this software. Chris Perillo uses and promotes this software.
